Our Jebel Ali test bay now runs complete drive trains at 6 MW

A new load machine and supply upgrade mean motors, gearboxes and drives up to 6 MW can be tested together before they ship.

Since 2019 our Jebel Ali test bay has load-tested every motor we build there. This summer we finished the biggest upgrade in its history: a new 6 MW load machine, an 11 kV supply and a control room that lets customers watch a test from the gallery or online.

Why test the whole drive train

A motor that passes its test, a gearbox that passes its test and a drive that passes its test can still misbehave together. Vibration, harmonics and control settings only show their true colours when the parts run as one system.

Testing the full train in Jebel Ali means problems are found on our floor, not at a pump station five hours into the desert.

  • Full-load heat runs on motors up to 6 MW
  • Complete systems: drive, motor and gearbox together
  • Harmonic and vibration measurements against the site specification
  • Live video and data for customers who can’t travel
The Al Wusta drive house was the first system through the new bay. It ran for 72 hours at full power before it was packed.

Booking a witness test

Witness tests are free for motors above 200 kW and for every packaged drive system. Your project manager books the slot when you order, usually six weeks ahead, and you’ll receive the test plan a week before.

If you’d like to see the bay before you order, we run works tours most Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ask your sales engineer, or use the contact page.
