Twenty-two trainees start at Jebel Ali

Our largest intake yet: electrical, mechanical and winding trainees, all starting in our rebuilt training workshop.

On the first Monday of September, 22 trainees walked into the Jebel Ali works for their first day. It’s our largest intake since the programme began in 2008, and the first to start in the training workshop we rebuilt over the summer.

Who they are

This year’s group is aged 18 to 24. Fourteen are training as electrical and mechanical maintenance technicians, five as motor winders and three as test technicians. Eleven are UAE nationals, nine came to us from technical schools and colleges we work with through the year, and seven are women, our highest number yet.

What the next four years look like

  • The first year is spent mostly in the training workshop and at a technical college one day a week.
  • From year two, trainees rotate through the factory floor, test bay and service workshop.
  • Every trainee is paired with a mentor who completed the same programme.
Two of this year’s mentors started as Norvik trainees in 2016. One of them now runs the test bay night shift.

Applying next year

Applications for the September 2027 intake open on 1 November 2026 and close on 31 January 2027. You need Grade 12 with maths and physics, or a technical diploma, and we hold open evenings at the works in November and January.
