Trainee programme

We take on around 20 trainees every September in Jebel Ali, training as electrical and mechanical maintenance technicians, motor winders and test technicians. It’s a four-year programme leading to a technical diploma: one day a week at college, the rest in our training workshop and then on the factory floor, test bay and service workshop.

You need Grade 12 with maths and physics, or a technical diploma, and to be 18 or over by the start date. Pay starts at AED 6,500 a month and rises every year, and we sponsor the visa for trainees who are not UAE nationals. More than a third of our engineers and managers started as trainees, and we pay for a degree for anyone who wants to carry on.

I came in at sixteen to learn to wind coils. Ten years on I run the test bay night shift, and Norvik paid for my degree along the way.

Careers questions

Do I need a degree for the trainee programme?

No. Grade 12 with maths and physics is enough. Some trainees join after a technical diploma, and that’s welcome too.

Can I apply for a role that isn’t listed?

Yes. Email your CV to careers@norvikdrives.ae with the kind of work you’re after. We keep speculative applications for six months.

Do you sponsor visas?

Yes. We sponsor the UAE residence visa, Emirates ID and medical for every role in the UAE. Roles in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman are sponsored by our local companies there.

Come to an open evening

Thursday 19 November and Thursday 14 January, 18:00–20:00 at the Jebel Ali works.
