Licensing and copyright
Who owns the photographs?
I keep the copyright, as is standard under UAE copyright law, and you receive a licence to use them. The standard licence covers your website, social media, press and print up to 10,000 copies, with no time limit.
Can I use the photos in advertising?
Yes, with an extended licence from AED 1,200. Tell me before the shoot and it’s included in your quote.
Can I give the photos to a magazine or partner?
For press about your business, yes. For anything else, ask me first; it’s usually fine and usually free.
Turnaround and delivery
How soon will I see the photographs?
A first edit in an online gallery within five working days. Final retouched files five working days after you’ve chosen your favourites.
Can you deliver faster?
Yes. Edited selects within 48 hours cost AED 750 extra, and same-night delivery for news and events can be arranged.
How are files delivered?
By a private download link, in full resolution for print and smaller sizes for web. I keep a backup for at least five years.
Travel
Do you travel outside Dubai?
All the time: about half my work is elsewhere in the UAE, from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, and now and then in Oman. Travel within Dubai is included; beyond it I charge AED 2 a kilometre plus any accommodation at cost.
Do you work in the desert and the mountains?
Yes. I plan shoots in Liwa, Hatta or up Jebel Jais with spare days for weather, and I’ll say in the quote how many I’ve allowed.
What about the summer heat?
From June to September we shoot outdoor portraits at sunrise or in the last hour before sunset, or move indoors. If heat, dust or rain makes a session unsafe, we move the date for free. For commissions we agree a backup plan when we book.
Portrait sessions and prints
I hate having my picture taken. Can you help?
Most of my sitters say the same. We start with a walk and a coffee, and I won’t lift the camera until you’re ready.
Can I reschedule a session?
Once for free, with 7 days’ notice. With less than 48 hours’ notice the deposit is kept, unless you’re ill.
How do I order a print?
Use the form on the prints page. I email an invoice within one working day, and your print arrives within 10 working days.
