A rivière is one of the oldest forms in fine jewellery: a single line of stones, each one held in its own collet, running round the neck or wrist like water. We have wanted to make one properly for years.
How it is made
Each stone sits in a small hand-made setting, joined to its neighbour by a hinge so the line moves and lies flat. The necklace has forty-one diamonds, graduated from 0.08 ct at the back to 0.5 ct at the centre. Anouk spent most of the summer matching them for colour so the line reads as one.
- Rivière necklace, white gold, 41 diamonds: AED 72,000
- Rivière bracelet, white gold, 28 diamonds: from AED 21,500
- Rivière drops, a pair: AED 11,500
Seeing it
The collection is in the salon to view from 4 November, Saturday to Thursday by appointment. Each piece can also be made in yellow gold or platinum, in about eight weeks.
It took Tom nine days to set the necklace. It takes about a second to put on.
If you’d like to see it, mention Rivière when you book and we’ll have the pieces ready on the table.
