Partner, Employment
Nadia Hussain
Nadia advises employers only: contracts, restructures, difficult exits and labour claims.
About Nadia
Nadia qualified in 2007 and joined Hale & Morrow from the Dubai office of an international firm in 2013, becoming a partner four years later.
She acts only for employers, which means she never has to argue against the advice she gave last week. Clients value her for calm, quick calls when something has gone wrong and for policies that managers can actually follow. She speaks English, Arabic and Urdu.

What Nadia advises on
-
Labour claim defence
Unfair dismissal, unpaid wages, gratuity and discrimination claims, from Ministry mediation to the Labour Court or the DIFC Courts.
-
Restructures and redundancy
Selection, notice and end-of-service payments planned so they stand up later.
-
Contracts and handbooks
Clear, up-to-date documents with non-compete clauses a UAE court will enforce.
-
Senior exits
Settlement agreements and negotiated departures for directors and key staff.
A dismissal went wrong on the shop floor on a Friday. Nadia called me back within the hour, and the complaint was settled at the Ministry three weeks later.
Recent work
Shared with clients’ permission, or with names left out.
-
Restructure of a 300-person manufacturer
A restructure of 48 roles, with every settlement agreed and no labour claims brought.
-
Discrimination claim defended
A three-day trial in the DIFC Courts; every claim dismissed.
-
Staff transfer on a business sale
Transfer of 64 staff, their visas and their service to the buyer, alongside our corporate team, completed on the agreed date.
Qualifications and outside work
Nadia writes a monthly briefing for clients of our HR advice line on changes to the UAE Labour Law and the DIFC Employment Law, and speaks regularly to HR groups across Dubai.
She is a trustee of a Dubai charity that helps young people into their first jobs and is learning, slowly, to play the oud.
