Dental implants

Replace a missing tooth with an implant that looks, feels and works like your own.

Dentist explaining an implant using a model of the jaw

What it involves

An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw, topped with a crown made to match your teeth. Dr Hana Kowalski plans each one with a 3D scan, so she knows exactly where it will go before the day.

The post needs about three months to settle before the crown is fitted. Many people go back to work the day after placement.

What happens

  1. Assessment

A 3D scan, a check of your bone and gums, and a written plan.

  2. Placement

The implant placed under local anaesthetic, usually in about an hour.

  3. Crown

Your crown fitted three months later, matched to your teeth.

Questions about dental implants

Am I suitable for an implant?

Most adults with healthy gums are. Smoking and some medical conditions lower the success rate; we’ll talk it through at your assessment.

Does it hurt?

The area is numb during placement. Afterwards most people need ordinary painkillers for a day or two.

How long do implants last?

With good cleaning and regular check-ups, many last for decades. The crown may need replacing after 10 to 15 years.
