A thorough check of your teeth, gums and mouth every six to twelve months, so small problems stay small.
What it involves
Your check-up takes about 20 minutes. We look at every tooth, measure your gums, check your bite and screen for mouth cancer, then talk you through what we found on screen. X-rays are only taken when they’ll change what we do, usually every two years.
You leave with a written summary and a date for your next visit, picked by your dentist based on your mouth rather than a fixed rule.

How often should I have a check-up?
Anything from every three months to every two years, depending on your teeth and gums. Your dentist will recommend an interval and explain why.
Are X-rays safe?
Our digital X-rays use a very low dose, similar to a few hours of natural background radiation. We only take them when they will change your treatment.
Do you check for mouth cancer?
Yes, at every check-up. It takes a minute and is painless.
