Partner, Disputes
Chris Lowe
Chris resolves shareholder fallouts, contract claims and unpaid debts, and tells you plainly when a fight isn’t worth it.
About Chris
Chris qualified in 2005, moved to Dubai in 2008, joined the firm in 2010 and became a partner in 2015. He is registered to appear before the DIFC Courts and is an accredited mediator.
He believes most disputes are settled by the side that understands its own case best, earliest. Every new matter starts with a written early assessment: what you could win, what it would cost, and what a sensible settlement looks like.

What Chris advises on
-
Shareholder and partnership disputes
Deadlocks, exits and claims by minority shareholders, usually resolved by a negotiated buyout.
-
Contract claims
Supply, construction and services disputes between businesses, in court or in arbitration.
-
Debt recovery
Fixed-fee recovery of unpaid invoices and bounced cheques, from a legal notice to enforcement.
-
Mediation
Representing clients at mediation, and acting as a mediator in business disputes.
Chris told us the claim was worth fighting and the counterclaim wasn’t. He was right, and it saved us a year in court.
Recent work
Shared with clients’ permission, or with names left out.
-
Shareholder deadlock in an engineering firm
A buyout of a 40% shareholder agreed at mediation after six months, avoiding a court case.
-
AED 4.5 million supply contract claim
Recovered in full with costs in the DIFC Courts; the counterclaim was struck out.
-
Debt recovery for a building materials supplier
A rolling programme recovering AED 1.6 million of overdue accounts in a year.
Qualifications and outside work
Chris is registered with the DIFC Courts and is an accredited civil and commercial mediator. He teaches the advocacy course for the firm’s trainees each year.
He runs the Dubai Marathon most Januarys and is still trying to beat the time he set in 2011.
